I am coming towards the end of my second year MSc in Endodontics at Plymouth University, which were two very interesting and productive years. During this time, simple mechanical work that I carried out in the dental practice has evolved into an art of root canal treatment, through the application of many hours of both academic and practical studies. My next year will be dedicated to writing up and finishing my masters, which I am looking forward to.
I am more confident in treating complex cases, and in using the newest equipment and materials to help my patients in preserving their teeth. In September 2023, I attended the 2nd Style Italiano Endodontics International Congress in Athens, Greece, which had many fascinating lectures from renowned professors from around the world, and very useful workshops, techniques from which I will implement in my future work.
Thanks to my current studies, I can better reassure my patients and encourage them to have this treatment done, as many are afraid of root canal treatments, when in fact the procedure is not as bad as its reputation, and allows us to preserve original tooth structure, which is in the best interest of the patients.
